Insider Tips for Winter Travel
Start Later in the Morning
The first trains of the day have the highest cancellation probability in snow (switches not yet cleared). Plan for the second or third train.
Know Alternative Routes
Research alternative connections beforehand. In case of route closures, you can often travel via a different route.
Prefer ICE Trains
ICE trains are more reliable than regional trains. They have priority for route clearance and more modern technology.
Use Major Stations
If problems occur at small stations, travel to the nearest main station - there are more alternatives available.
