Pro tips

1

Earn status via bahn.bonus points: 2,500 points/year = status. That's about 12 Flexpreis long-distance trips. Tip: IC tickets give the same points as ICE tickets — sometimes cheaper to book.

2

For ICE-Sprinter Frankfurt-Munich: Frankfurt lounge before departure: Before a 2h ride, a relaxed coffee break with WiFi and snacks. The Business area is nearly empty at 7am — ideal for preparation calls.

3

Lufthansa status also works: Senator/HON at Lufthansa opens DB Lounges via Star Alliance — in Frankfurt even the Business Lounge. Not officially listed at DB but accepted in practice.

4

Use before the night train: When waiting for the Nightjet in Vienna/Munich: lounge access usually 1–2h before departure. Showers refresh before the long night.

5

Use transfer time: With 30+ min transfer in Frankfurt/Munich, you can visit the lounge — even if it's not your start/destination station. Show ticket at reception for waiting time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who has free access to the DB Lounge?

Free access: (1) BahnCard 100 holders (always, 1st or 2nd class), (2) bahn.comfort status customers (2,500 status points/year), (3) passengers with a 1st class Flexpreis ticket on the travel day, (4) partner-program members of certain airlines and hotel chains. Without these prerequisites, there is no pay-per-use access — DB has no single-entry tickets.

How many DB Lounges are there in Germany?

Currently 16 DB Lounges at the most important main stations: Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, Cologne, Frankfurt (Hbf and Airport), Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Munich, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Essen, Leipzig, Mannheim, Kiel and Bremen. Plus extended first-class areas at many ICE stations without a separate lounge.

What's included in the DB Lounge?

WiFi (faster than on the platform), hot and cold drinks (coffee, tea, water, juices), small snacks (fruit, cookies, sometimes filled bread rolls), lounge chairs, workspaces with power outlets, printer and copier (Business Lounges), newspapers/magazines. Showers only in a few premium locations (Frankfurt, Munich).

Can I bring someone into the DB Lounge?

Yes, within your access ticket scope: with 1st class Flexpreis, your companion travels with you (on the same ticket). BahnCard 100 holders may bring one companion per visit. bahn.comfort customers may invite up to 3 companions. Children under 14 always have free entry with an entitled adult.

Which DB Lounges have a "Business Lounge" premium area?

The Business Lounge is a separate premium area within the regular DB Lounge — quieter, with table-service drinks, better snacks, showers and workrooms. Access: only BahnCard 100 Business / 1st class plus bahn.comfort status. Locations: Frankfurt Hbf, Frankfurt Airport, Munich Hbf, Hamburg Hbf, Berlin Hbf, Cologne Hbf, Stuttgart Hbf.

How long can I stay in the lounge?

There is no time limit. As long as the lounge is open (usually 6am to 10pm, depending on location), you can stay. On entry, show your entitlement ticket or BahnCard at reception. Ideal for working, eating or just waiting before a long ICE ride.
